2 Corinthians 13

A shepherd can warn, convict the sheep of their sins and ask them to repent of their sins by showing their sins to them. This is not done to tear them down ; but to build them up. This is what Apostle Paul did to the Corinthian church. He wrote the epistle for restoring the Corinthian church fully in Christ as they were not fully restored with Christ. This is a true characteristic of a shepherd. He will try to restore people with Christ and will also strive to bring peace among them. He will call a spade a spade. He will not be a diplomatic talker who talks for the itchy ears.

2 Corinthians 12

Apostle Paul went to third heavens. He doesn't call it "Heaven". After going there, he heard something that he was not supposed to tell. Great revelations were revealed to him for his personal understanding and he was not allowed to tell to everyone about what he saw. Paul clearly says this in his letter to the Corinthian church. When we compare this experience of Paul with that of the present day claims of men and women who claim that they have been to heaven, we can see a big difference. The present day men and women will boast about what they saw and what they heard in their apparent visit to heaven. Let us not fall prey to glittery stories that people tell. Many of such stories contradict with the word of God

2 Corinthians 11

In Christianity many star preachers have a great fan following because of their talents and preaching skills. But do they preach the same Jesus of the scriptures? This is one question that every Christian has to be very carefully answer. There is another Jesus that many preachers preach. This "Another Jesus" can also be preached using Bible verses; but he is not the Jesus who shed his blood for us. Apostle Paul warns the Corinthians to be aware of these preachers who preached a different gospel. There are many such preachers among us today who were already warned by Apostle Paul. Unless you have a daily walk with God by reading and meditating on the word of God, you will never be able to find these false "Super Apostles".

2 Corinthians 10

How many times have we judged a person before the appointed time? There are times when people come to conclusion about a person based on the way he talks, walks and dresses. The Corinthians also thought very lowly about Apostle Paul. They thought that he writes well; but could not talk properly. But Paul tells them to expect the unexpected if they still continue to think like that. Unless and until we spend time with a person and walk in his shoes, we might be able to know what kind of person he is.

2 Corinthians 9

God loves a cheerful giver. This verse is often used before the offertory time in churches. When Paul writes to the Corinthian church, he was encouraging them to cheerfully give to the needy saints. Paul did not take a single penny from this offertory. Instead he worked from his own hands and made a living. We ought to help those who are in need and we should be very careful of those who come to us with Greed.

Give to the needy and not to the greedy.

(Meditation thoughts from 2 Corinthians 9th chapter)

2 Corinthians 8

The people of Macedonia gave to the poor and needy even though they were poor. They gave on their own; not because they were persuaded. They gave out of love for the body of Christ. This is the attitude of giving. When we give, let us give with an attitude to help others and not with an attitude that you will be blessed because of helping others.

( Meditation thoughts from 2 Corinthians 8th chapter. One of the finest examples of sacrificial giving)

2 Corinthians 7

Apostle Paul's preaching made the Corinthians to feel sorry for their sins and they repented. Godly sorrow brings life (salvation) and worldly sorrow brings death. When a teaching makes you to move closer to God and hate sin with a passion, it is from God. But if someone teaches you not to repent of your sins (deeds of the flesh) beware of such a teaching. It is not the gospel of grace.

(Meditation thought from 2 Corinthians 7th chapter)

2 Corinthians 6

We might have no material riches at all / hated by many / rejected by people and hurt by some; but we have everything because we have Christ in us. This was the testimony of Apostle Paul.

(Meditation thought from 2 Corinthians 6th chapter where Paul testifies about his hardships which he does not even consider as a great sacrifice)

2 Corinthians 5

What happens to a child of God when he dies? What will happen to the body and what will happen to the soul? Apostle Paul beautifully answers it in 2 Corinthians 5th chapter. A chapter that should give you goospimples if you can visualize the things mentioned in that chapter when you read through it.

2 Corinthians 4

Do we cry out to God and say " Why Me? Lord!" when we go through troubles in life?
Children of God might go through physical pressures, persecutions, agony and pain. The Scripture tells that these are momentary troubles and all these will pass. These momentary troubles that we face in our day to day life should not bog us down; Instead they should remind us to stand strong so that we achieve the eternal glory that God has in store for his children. This eternal glory surpasses all these troubles that we go through.

(Meditation thoughts from 2 Corinthians 4th Chapter. Also meditate Psalm 73 which compliments this chapter very well)

2 Corinthians 3

Children of God should become a living Bible in thoughts, words and actions. Many people would not even read the bible. For such people the only bible they would ever read is a Child of God who lives-the-Bible. Be a Bible to the world because the spirit of the living God is written in the hearts of his children.

2 Corinthians 2

Spanking a dead snake!

Have you seen people thrashing an already dead snake or beating an already dead rat. Some even pull out the limbs of a dead mosquito and show their strength. This is how many of us deal with a person who is caught in sin. When a person is caught in a sin ( eg : Lying) many would punish him. This punishment in public by many would be more than sufficient for him. Instead of joining the gang and punishing him, we ought to forgive and comfort him so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. Let us stop spanking a dead snake.

Note : Not applicable to all cases

(Meditation thoughts from 2 Corinthians 2nd chapter)

2 Corinthians 1

God comforts us so that we will be able to comfort someone who needs comfort. Around us there are many who need a shoulder to cry on; an ear to listen to; a hand to hold on to and a mouth to give words of hope and encouragement. You can be that shoulder, ear, hand and mouth. Look around!!!
